Our Curriculum

Curriculum vision

The ambitious curriculum at Thames Ditton Junior school instils reading at its centre and aims to be cognitively challenging, diverse, equitable and rooted in the core knowledge needed to underpin education and open doors to the future, regardless of starting points.

We strive to ensure all our learners feel supported to take risks, make mistakes, value their own and others’ contributions and maintain resilience in an ever-changing world.

All staff are driven to engage, enthuse and inspire the children in their care and foster a genuine and deep love of learning that extends far beyond the classroom and their time at our school.

British Values

As of 2014 all schools are required by the DFE to promote the historical and current values that underpin the British national identity. Within this, all schools are required to ensure that the curriculum actively promotes these four fundamental British values:

  • Respect for democracy and support for participation in the democratic process.
  • Respect for the basis on which the law is made and applies in England.
  • Individual liberty, support and respect for the liberties of all within the law.
  • Respect for and tolerance of different cultures, faiths and other beliefs
