Headteacher's Welcome
Dear Parents, Carers and Pupils,
Welcome to Thames Ditton Junior School – a progressive, ambitious school in the heart of Elmbridge.
At TDJS, we’re unapologetically focused on what works best for children. We don’t follow trends or stick with methods just because “that’s the way it’s always been done.” Every decision we make is deliberate, based on research, and designed to give our pupils the strongest possible start in life.
When you visit us, you’ll see this in action:
- A curriculum that builds knowledge over time, layer by layer, preparing pupils for success beyond primary school.
- A consistent teaching and learning model that brings clarity, structure, and high expectations to every classroom.
- A sharp focus on reading—because we know that building reading mileage and fluency opens doors to every subject, every opportunity, and every future.
- A commitment to core skills—ensuring pupils master the basics so they can free up brain space to think creatively, solve problems, and explore ideas deeply.
We’re ambitious for every child—not just in what they achieve here, but in the strong foundations they take forward into the next stage of their education. TDJS is a safe and happy place where pupils thrive and flourish, thanks to the excellent pastoral care and support they receive.
Our journey as a school has been one of reflection, challenge, and growth. We are proud of how far we’ve come, but we’re never standing still. Every element of our curriculum, our teaching, and our approach is the result of deliberate design and intentionality—always evolving to ensure it makes the greatest possible difference for our pupils.
Our staff team is dedicated, hard-working, and united by a shared commitment to excellence and care. We model what it means to be human: we work hard, we make mistakes, and we learn from them.
If you’re looking for a school where every decision is carefully considered, where we’re always improving and building for the future, we’d love to welcome you. Please contact the school office to arrange a visit.
All the best,
Matt Lewis
