25 Years at TDJS
This week we celebrate the 25th TDJS employee anniversary of Mrs Gardiner! Becky has worked under six Headteachers during her tenure and started her journey with us in the Specialist Centre. The move to the school office came a few years later and although she loves her role, Becky says she misses the interaction with the children, hence why she always volunteers to attend the annual residential trips. Some of Becky's official staff photos are included - you've hardly changed at all Mrs Gardiner!
Becky's anecdotes are fascinating, including the following:
When I first started in the office we had a typewriter, a fax machine and a banda machine – this was before photocopiers… you had to type the original on a special sheet and then roll off the copies. A nightmare of purply ink – and of course if your page had a spelling mistake you had to do it all again!! After that we had a photocopier that was so big it had its own room!
The school was also much smaller. The current Y3 and Y6 classrooms didn't exist and 5B and 5DS had only just been built. There was also no music lodge, no astro nor pavillion.
